FCPS training length is different according to specialty . The duration of training can be 4 to 5 years. 85 specialties are offered by the college of Physician and surgeon Pakistan. Further divided into two Categories of A Road Map To Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons -FCPS.

The duration of the FCPS training varies from 4-5 years depending upon the specialties chosen. Competency based curricula have been developed for each discipline by the relevant faculties. The College critically evaluates the standards and facilities available in these institutions to ensure quality training for its trainees.
In order to strengthen trainees professional skills and training programs, CPSP holds capacity building short courses / workshops in which their participation is mandatory and a pre-requisite for appearing in the examination. These workshops are: Basic Surgical Skills, Research Methodology, Biostatistics & Dissertation Writing, Communication Skills, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO®), and Introduction to Computer and Internet. A trainee successfully completing training, appear in final examinations and upon success the candidate is awarded Fellowship / Membership of the College and granted the status of specialists.
